Background

Adobe has released new AI tools in some of their software, and I wanted to test out some prompts in Illustrator. I decided to make some AI-generated logos to put this new feature to the test.

AI Generation Tools

The year 2023 was absolutely the year of AI, and not only ChatGPT, but it seems most businesses tried to incorporate AI somehow into their services. In this quickly evolving landscape, I think it’s always beneficial to be curious and, in some way, explore new techniques.

After experimenting with some free tools online, Adobe released new features in Illustrator, and I decided to test them by making a logo. I took inspiration from World of Warcraft, where “Lord of Frost’s Private Label” is an alcoholic beverage.

For every prompt, Illustrator generates three variations, all of which are distinctly different. They’re not perfect final products, but they’re great places to start. Sometimes the best ideas come from trying a variety of different things, and tools such as these facilitate kicking off that creative process or taking it in ways we might not have considered. It’s like having an additional person in the room coming up with creative ideas.

Adobe Tools

After experimenting with the AI generation tools, I decided to utilize my Adobe skillset for a fun presentation of the logo. First, I added the logo to a mockup from Freepix in Photoshop, and then turned the mockup into a poster in InDesign. After that, I added the poster to another mockup from freepix.

Reflections

This was a fun and inspiring experiment; the AI tools are still in their early years, but I can already tell there’s so much potential. With more learning by the tools and experiments by the community, these tools can vastly enhance the work we’re able to produce and facilitate the creative process in immense ways.
