As Sunsafe‘s in-house designer (2014-2016), I played a key role in building their digital presence through asset curation and photo editing in Adobe Photoshop.
Building a Sunny Brand Identity
Sunsafe, a Swedish company specializing in sun protection solutions, entrusted me with managing their visual identity during my tenure as their in-house designer:
- Building a Photo Library: Collected and curated a comprehensive library of customer photos to showcase Sunsafe’s products and services.
- Enhancing Visual Appeal: Utilized Adobe Photoshop to edit customer photos, making subtle adjustments such as removing unwanted elements, improving lighting, and color correction. A key focus was replicating the bright yellow tones synonymous with Swedish design and the Sunsafe brand.
The Power of a Distinctive Yellow
Sunsafe’s yellow logo served as a source of inspiration:
- Swedish Inspiration: Recognized the unique character of yellow in Swedish design, aiming to capture that essence in Sunsafe’s visual identity. The focus on yellow extended beyond the logo, becoming a signature color for the brand.
- A Customer Favorite: The customer photo showcasing a house bathed in warm yellow light exemplifies this successful approach.
Reflections on Resourcefulness & Growth
The experience at Sunsafe highlighted the importance of resourcefulness in brand building:
- Optimizing Existing Assets: Demonstrated the ability to leverage customer photos and readily available resources to construct a compelling visual narrative.
- Importance of Original Content: Recognized the challenges of acquiring original content and acknowledged the growing need for such assets in branding.
- Expanding the Digital Marketing Toolkit: This project deepened my understanding of website design, digital marketing principles, and branding strategies.
A Lasting Impact
I am grateful to the Sunsafe team for providing me with the opportunity to refine my design and digital marketing skills. Witnessing competitors replicate Sunsafe’s photos served as a validation of the effectiveness of the brand identity I helped create.
