Background
ICCO was a company focused on smart home products and software, offering solutions for connected living—from garage door openers to automated window blinds. For this project, I developed a brand identity that reflected innovation, simplicity, and adaptability to different home automation solutions.
Concept & Design Approach
One of the key requests was to keep the design simple yet expressive. To achieve this, I incorporated a clever typographic element where the “I” in ICCO was reimagined as an exclamation mark—symbolizing excitement, innovation, and the smart alerts that define home automation.
To reinforce ICCO’s identity, I designed a flexible color palette and modern typography that conveyed trust, innovation, and adaptability.
Color Variations
Since ICCO’s products spanned multiple smart home functions, I developed a versatile color system to represent key brand attributes:
- ICCO Blue (#00589c): Trust, technology, and security.
- ICCO Green (#439f46): Sustainability and energy efficiency.
- ICCO Yellow (#f7a922): Warmth, optimism, and user-friendliness.
- ICCO Red (#c72728): Alerts, connectivity, and urgency.
Each variation ensured the brand could adapt to different use cases while maintaining visual consistency.
Fonts
The typefaces chosen for this project were:
- Aldo the Apache – A bold, modern font reinforcing ICCO’s smart and strong brand presence.
- Inversionz – A complementary typeface supporting the futuristic and tech-forward feel.
Reflections
Although ICCO ultimately did not implement the final design, this project allowed me to explore branding within the smart home industry. I’m proud of the identity system I created, which balanced clarity, innovation, and adaptability, which I think are essential traits for a connected home brand.
